✦
Provide practical strategies and tools rooted in my expertise in learning theories

Affirmation of identity, culture, and personhood because we shouldn’t reject our humanity in the pursuit of knowledge and progress. ✦
Awareness and acknowledgement of intersectional marginalization and vulnerability
✦
Interactive and process-oriented activities
✦
Storytelling to bridge lived experience, theory, and practice. Storytelling is the connective thread to unveil the what, why, and how
Signature Topics
-
Whether you’re early in your dissertation or preparing your first manuscript submission, this session will help demystify the publishing process and equip you with concrete strategies to move your scholarship forward.
“One thing I learned from the workshop is that I should own my writing style and my voice. I am in control over the publishing process, and I don't have to mold my work into something that it's not. I will find a home for it.”
- Ashley Melcherts, Ph.D. -
This workshop will help you gain momentum towards publishing your master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation in the form of academic journal articles. This session will be useful for one-study, two-study, and three-study theses and dissertations. She will share insights for strategizing different article types (e.g., empirical, theoretical), building a publication pipeline, and navigating the editorial process.
“As a visual learner, I appreciated seeing how to map out concepts and ideas for future publications. I felt it was extremely helpful to see examples of Dr. Destiny's publication process. But what I liked most about the workshop was how Dr. Destiny continuously affirmed the value of maintaining our unique and authentic voice as Black women scholars.” -Margaret Oaikena, Ph.D. -
Drawing from her award-winning research program, Dr. Destiny will share her process for conducting rigorous intersectional, qualitative inquiry. She will share her substantive methodological expertise in autoethnography and interpretative phenomenological analysis. In addition, she will show how ontology, epistemology, axiology, theory, methodology, and methods work together to inform the entire research process.

This workshop is designed for anyone who works with college students and wants to provide equitable help-seeking experiences for all students. By delving into my extensive research program, I will provide research-driven insights regarding how to approach interpersonal interactions and how to design learning environments (in-person and online) and that empower students to seek help for their holistic success.
Iterations of this workshop have been at Oakton Community College and Mount Holyoke College.
